2018 Bikers For Brooke
2017 Bikers For Brooke
The 5th Annual Bikers for Brooke was another success. 198 motorcycles with 48 passengers for a total of 240 riders. That was a great turnout for the escorted ride. Matt Dernier delivered an poignant blessing of the bikes to all riders. Red Knights Chapters 20 and 32 escorted along with support from the Union and Scotch Plains Police Departments and the New Providence Fire Department. Along the Route there was tremendous support from each of the Fire Departments we passed – Mountainside FD, Scotch Plains FD, Watchung Chemical Engine at Bonnie Burn Rd and Watchung Chemical Engine Headquarters.
There were nearly 460 total attendees. There were 17 cars to participate in the 3rd Car Cruise, including a 1971 yellow Sting Ray 454 selected as the winner of the Healey Family’s Choice Award. There were 7 vendors. Paolo’s Kitchen from New Providence provided the food along with the hotdogs from Green Village Packing Co.
Brandi Durham, co-founder of The Cure Starts Now KY Chapter and mom to RaiLee Branam was the guest speaker. RaiLee was diagnosed on Oct 6, 2016 and earned her angle wings on Nov 4, 2016. She was only 4 years old. Her tumor was donated for research and it was the first DIPG tumor studied without ever going through chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
All the monies raised at the 5th Annual Bikers for Brooke fundraiser will be put towards funding leading research and helping kids and families dealing with DIPG and other pediatric cancers. Thank you to everyone who supports our mission. 6th Annual – Sunday, June 10, 2018!!!
